Beaches in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Although Puerto Vallarta is only about 500 square miles, there are a number of great beaches that you can visit along its coastline. Today we are going to talk about some of the best beaches that you can visit in Puerto Vallarta, as well as some of the great activities that you can take part in while visiting. There is a lot of stuff to do, and it's all happening in Puerto Vallarta.

One of the most talked about places to visit is Yelapa. This is just about as far away from city life as you can get. This is a small fishing village on a quiet cove with very few cars. It is not a very big stretch of beach, but what beach it does have is great. Many people say the beach is so great, because there is so little traffic that comes down to that area. However, one thing is for sure, the people that do come are getting a great taste of Puerto Vallarta beach. Be sure to stop by their little thatched roof restaurant, where you can find some of the freshest fish you have ever seen.

After leaving Yelapa, it would be time to head to Las Animas, also know as South Shore. This is a favorite among the locals who live there. The great thing about this beach is that it consists of nothing except sand that stretches on for what seems like miles. Along the shoreline you will find about a dozen restaurants and one dock. This is one Puerto Vallarta beach that is still as nature made it.

From there you can head over to Boca de Tomates, or Airport Vally. This is a place for people who are looking to get away from the crowds. There are not many crowds in this area, because this beach is not made for swimming, this beach is made for crocodile watching and exotic bird seeing. You may even get lucky and see some sea turtles in the area as well.

Another very well known Puerto Vallarta beach is known as Marina Vallarta. This is a spot that is pretty much just catering to the resort hotels. However, since the report hotels choose this beach, you know that it is nothing except white sandy beaches with crystal clear water. On the other side of the hotels you have nothing except a great mountain backdrop, which gives this beach a one of a kind feel.

One beach that seems to have a name that makes no sense is Los Muertos. This is one of the liveliest beaches that you will find in all of Puerto Vallarta. However, it is funny that it is so “lively”, because the literal translation of this beaches name means, The Dead. Despite the name, this is one of the best beaches you are going to find anywhere in the world.

People love to travel to Puerto Vallarta for many reasons; however, the main reason why people come to this area is because of the beaches. The weather is perfect for swimming and laying out on the sand no matter what time of the year it is. There is always something going on, on the shores of Puerto Vallarta.
